NEW: Difficult tees and totes NOW AVAILABLE!!! scroll down
This collection started as a celebration of International Women's Day. But we've been thinking about it a bit and we've changed our minds.
We feel like IWD has gone the way of white ribbon - maybe not quite that far. But performative and captured by capitalism. There is value in women's spaces and celebrating progression. But to us, the thing that the last few years, even just the last few weeks, has demonstrated is that there is so much left to do.
Progress isn't progress when so many women and children miss out. If our measures of progress don't include the most vulnerable, they're flawed measures.
And we're again reminded, so violently and starkly, of who suffers most in war - women and children.
Then there's Epstein.
Anyway...
Five dollars from every UNGOVERNABLE item sold will be donated to What were you wearing? Australia an indigenous, youth-led charity fighting to end sexual violence in Australia.
Five dollars from every DIFFICULT item sold will be donated to the Grace Tame Foundation.
We're on a bit of a medieval woodcut thing at the moment. If you'd like to learn about the sixteenth century witch hunts we recommend Suzannah Lipscomb's Witch-craft: A Century of Murder (spoiler: it's the 'witches' who get murdered).
Really this is for year-round wear, this collection uses mythic imagery and bold illustration to centre autonomy, resistance and refusal. They are statements — about bodily autonomy, self-rule and being unmanageable in systems that demand silence. You know what's currently on our minds, we're sure.
Featuring tees, crops and mugs printed in limited runs, Ungovernable is made to be worn every day you choose not to comply.
This collection includes:
-
statement T-shirts and cropped tees
-
stickers to stick on anything
- colour ways and fits for any body.
Designed and printed in Australia.
